Job summary

Family Dollar seeks an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with opening/closing procedures, merchandise handling, scheduling, and loss prevention while maintaining a clean, organized store environment.

The role emphasizes strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to deliver friendly, efficient service. You will train and supervise store associates and ensure compliance with company policies and safety guidelines

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives including pull and hold/destroy and other communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure associates follow them.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain store cleanliness, bathrooms, floors, and trash removal.
• Other duties as assigned.
