Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. The role covers daily store activities, inventory organization, and enforcing company policies to maintain a high standard of presentation and safety.

You will assist the Store Manager in supervising staff, handling merchandising, and ensuring a positive, efficient customer experience in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform related physical tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers with questions or concerns in a positive manner.
• Organize merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional displays and store-front fixtures.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, handling damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store and organized stockroom.
• Protect store assets including cash.
• Enforce policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Foster a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep bathrooms and store clean and restocked.
