Job summary

Family Dollar in Lansing, MI is seeking a part-time store associate to support daily store operations and assist customers with a friendly, helpful attitude. You will help stock merchandise, keep aisles neat, and follow company policies and procedures to ensure a safe shopping environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with opening/closing, processing directives, handling sales floor tasks, and supporting the Store Manager in training staff and maintaining promotional displays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits/receipts), and loss prevention.
• Maintain a neat and well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom according to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and ensure all associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, and trash removal.
• Other duties as assigned.
