Job summary

Family Dollar in the United States is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with opening/closing, merchandise organization, and adherence to company policies while leading and training Store Associates.

The role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and customer-friendly environment, coordinating with leadership, and ensuring promotional displays and stock are well managed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Store management experience in retail preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
• Maintain store areas and stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets including store cash.
• Adhere to policies, safety guidelines and ensure staff follow them.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe environment with professional customer and staff interactions.
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, trash, and overall neatness.
• Other duties as assigned.
