Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with day-to-day activities, organize merchandise flow from truck to floor, and help lead store associates in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes opening/closing procedures, adherence to corporate directives, and maintaining safe, neat store conditions while driving promotional displays and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and handle frequent walking, standing, stooping and repetitive lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Excellent customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns they may have.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for store-front effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Follow policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
