Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to partner with the Store Manager in leading the campus store. You will drive daily operations, deliver an outstanding customer experience, and support business results across merchandising, inventory, and staff development.

You will recruit, train, coach, schedule, and develop team members while upholding store standards and campus relationships. Flexibility for evenings/weekends is required.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of retail experience with leadership preferred.
• Experience with merchandising, inventory, and customer service.
• Strong communication and coaching skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficiency with retail technology and POS systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily sales floor operations and deliver exceptional service.
• Partner with Store Manager to oversee daily operations and act as Manager‑on‑Duty as needed.
• Recruit, train, and develop store team members.
• Drive sales and manage controllable expenses.
• Maintain store presentation, inventory accuracy, and safety.
• Build relationships with customers and campus partners.
