Job summary

Pet Supplies Plus in Greensboro, NC, is seeking an Assistant Store Team Leader to partner with the Store Team Leader in daily store operations, lead Department Managers and Shift Supervisors, and drive performance and engagement.

You will recruit, onboard, coach, and develop leaders; monitor store performance; oversee merchandising, inventory, animal care, safety, and customer service; and support marketing events while upholding a neighborly, reliable store culture.

Qualifications

• Retail leadership experience required; 2+ years preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coach and develop leaders and hold them accountable.
• Ability to analyze store performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ability to learn company systems.
• Dependable with reliable transportation.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate required store equipment after completing training.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Store Team Leader in day-to-day store operations.
• Provide leadership to Department Managers, Shift Supervisors, and team members.
• Coach and develop store leaders and team members.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and staffing.
• Help create a positive work environment that promotes engagement, accountability, development, and retention.
• Review store performance and identify opportunities to improve sales, productivity, neighbor engagement, and operational execution.
• Ensure standards for merchandising, inventory, animal care, cleanliness, safety, security, and overall store conditions are consistently maintained.
• Ensure consistent execution of daily stocking and down stocking, promotions, truck processing, inventory management, price changes, and other operational priorities.
• Resolve escalated neighbor, team member, and operational concerns.
• Support local marketing, community involvement, and store events.
• Assume responsibility for overall store operations in the Store Team Leader's absence.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on the needs of the business.
