Job summary

Oldham County Schools in Buckner, Kentucky seeks an Assistant Coach to support the head coach and athletic director across middle and high school programs. Responsibilities include assisting in planning and supervising practices, teaching fundamentals and team strategy, promoting sports in the school and community, and ensuring participant eligibility and safety.

The position is stipend-based, on an as-needed basis with annual review; coaching contracts are year-long and contingent on principal

Qualifications

High School diploma or G.E.D. is required.
64 college credits or completion of KHSAA training per bylaw 27.
Must be 21+ years old and clear criminal records check.
First aid and CPR certification required.
Knowledge of sporting rules, regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities

Assist the head coach and other coaches on one or more sports.
Follow oral and written directions; read and explain game rules.
Lift heavy objects and assist in practices and game setup.
Promote sports in the school and community; plan athletic activities.
Assist in organizing, supervising practices and teaching fundamentals.
Instruct team strategy and rules; encourage good sportsmanship and self-control.
Check participant eligibility, including insurance and consent.
Provide guidance and emotional support to student athletes.
Support equipment, supplies, and uniform purchases as needed.
Demonstrate loyalty to Oldham County Schools; perform other duties as assigned.
