Job summary

Take 5 Oil Change in Ohio is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager to help lead a fast-paced team on the shop floor. You will support the Shop Manager with daily operations, team development, and delivering a fast, friendly customer experience.

You may step in as Manager on Duty, train new hires, and help ensure safety, efficiency, and adherence to Take 5 standards. Automotive experience is valued but not required, with paid training and clear career growth paths.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months’ customer service experience in a fast-paced service environment.
• Minimum 6 months’ experience leading, coaching, or mentoring others in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to following and maintaining facility and safety policies and practices.
• Strong communication skills with ability to provide direction, coaching, and feedback to team members.
• Initiative, accountability, and follow-through on responsibilities.
• Ability to remain calm, organized, and solutions-focused during busy periods.
• Ability to meet applicable age and certification requirements, including Inspector Certification when required.
• Reliable transportation to and from your work location.

Responsibilities

• Complete our Certified Technician training.
• Serve as Manager on Duty when needed by coordinating workflow and helping the team deliver safe, efficient, high-quality service.
• Model fast, friendly customer service, respond to customer needs, and resolve concerns professionally.
• Ensure services are completed accurately and consistently while reinforcing company procedures, safety requirements, and service standards.
• Support shop performance by identifying opportunities for improvement and taking on additional leadership responsibilities when the Shop Manager is unavailable.
• Train new team members, provide real-time coaching and feedback, reinforce expectations, and recognize strong performance.
• Perform all Certified Technician and Lead Technician responsibilities.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Assist with daily inventory counts and adjustments.
• Support shop communication, reporting, and operational follow-up.
