Job summary

The City of New York DEP BEDC is seeking an Assistant Chemical Engineer to support the Water System Capital Program (WSCP) from the Sutton Park office in Valhalla, NY. You will assist in planning, coordinating and directing design and construction activities for watershed projects, monitor permit requirements, and review project documents to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with 1 year of full-time experience OR
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering Technology with 3 years of full-time experience OR
Bachelor plus a Master’s in Chemical Engineering.

Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate and direct design and construction of projects in the NYC watershed.
Monitor permit requirements and resolve project issues.
Review contract documents, codes, and regulations for deficiencies; prepare accurate reports.
Conduct field investigations to develop alternative approaches and solutions to meet objectives.
Participate in inspections with the construction management team and attend mandatory safety/environmental trainings.
