Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations (BWSO), seeks an Assistant Civil Engineer to support stormwater management and drainage infrastructure projects in New York City.

You will perform analyses, prepare calculations and reports, review designs, and coordinate with DEP bureaus, consultants, and contractors to deliver capital projects, while meeting regulatory standards and improving resilience.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college and one year of full-time civil engineering experience; or
• Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering technology with three years of civil engineering experience; or
• Bachelor’s degree and a master’s in civil engineering from an accredited college.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering analyses to support stormwater management and drainage infrastructure projects.
• Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret hydraulic and infrastructure data.
• Prepare calculations, memoranda, reports, drawings, and presentations.
• Review plans, specs, and reports for DEP standards and project requirements.
• Apply hydraulic/hydrologic modeling tools, GIS, AutoCAD, and other software for project planning and evaluation.
• Coordinate with DEP bureaus, consultants, and contractors to deliver capital projects.
• Maintain project documentation and assist with scheduling and coordination.
