Job summary

Michael Page partnered with a growing Mid-Atlantic general contractor to fill an Assistant Project Manager role in Maryland. The position supports design-build projects across federal, municipal, and commercial sectors with project values exceeding $10M.

You will assist with planning, budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor management, and document control, while collaborating with owners, architects, engineers, and field teams to meet schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial construction.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting projects through various phases including preconstruction, procurement, and project execution.
  • Knowledge of contracts, project scheduling, budgeting, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and cost control processes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
  • A detail-oriented, proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with design-build project delivery, healthcare, higher education, federal, multifamily, or other commercial project types is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Support budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor management, procurement, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Work closely with design teams, owners, architects, engineers, and field personnel to ensure project objectives, schedules, and budgets are achieved.
  • Monitor project progress, tracking costs, and helping identify and resolve potential issues to keep projects on track.
  • Coordinate meetings, maintaining project records, and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with company safety standards, contract requirements, and quality control initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assisting with project buyout, vendor and subcontractor negotiations, and closeout activities including punch list completion and turnover documentation.

Description

The Assistant Project Manager - Design-Build Contractor - MD will be responsible for:

Profile

Job Offer

The Assistant Project Manager - Design-Build Contractor - MD will receive:

  • Competitive base salary up to $90,000, plus an end-of-year bonus opportunity.
  • The opportunity to work directly with senior leadership on a diverse portfolio of projects, including government renovations, airport hangars, and other commercial developments.
  • 15 days (120 hours) of paid time off, plus seven paid holidays annually.
