Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for a design-build contractor in the Mid-Atlantic region. The role supports project managers from preconstruction through closeout on commercial construction, with emphasis on budgeting, scheduling, procurement, RFIs, and documentation.

You will collaborate with designers, owners, architects, engineers, and field teams to meet objectives, stay on schedule, and manage costs while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial construction, preferably with a general contractor or design-build firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting projects through preconstruction, procurement, and project execution.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, scheduling, budgeting, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and cost control processes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager - Design-Build Contractor - MD will be responsible for:

  • Assisting Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

  • Ensuring compliance with company safety standards, contract requirements, and quality control initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assisting with project buyout, vendor and subcontractor negotiations, and closeout activities including punch list completion and turnover documentation.

The Successful Applicant

The Assistant Project Manager - Design-Build Contractor - MD will have:

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial construction, preferably with a general contractor or design-build firm.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting projects through various phases of construction, including preconstruction, procurement, and project execution.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, project scheduling, budgeting, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and cost control processes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
  • A detail-oriented, proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with design-build project delivery, healthcare, higher education, federal, multifamily, or other commercial project types is a plus.

  • Competitive base salary up to $90,000, plus an end-of-year bonus opportunity.
