Job description

Assistant Project Manager

$85500 - $115000 per year | Riviera Beach, FL | On-site | Permanent

Top Multifamily Builder in the State
A bit about us:

Our client is a leading Florida-based general contractor and construction management firm with offices across South Florida and the Tampa Bay area. Since 1998, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering complex commercial and large-scale development projects throughout Florida and the Southeast.

Their portfolio spans high-rise residential, multifamily, hospitality, mixed-use, office, retail, municipal, senior living, healthcare, arts, and country club projects, including some of the region's most prominent developments.

The company takes a highly involved approach to project delivery, with strong emphasis on preconstruction, quality management, technology, and collaboration between its project teams. Their teams utilize VDC/BIM and coordinated project planning to identify issues before they reach the field and keep complex projects moving.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to join a well-established Florida GC with a substantial portfolio of high-profile projects and the resources to take on some of the state's most challenging construction work.

As an APM, you won't be sitting on the sidelines. You'll work directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, consultants, and clients while gaining exposure to the entire project lifecycle.

The role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale, technically complex projects while developing the skills necessary to progress into a Project Manager position. You'll be surrounded by experienced construction professionals and have the opportunity to take ownership of increasingly important pieces of the project.

Job Details

The Assistant Project Manager will work alongside the Project Manager and Superintendent to support the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale commercial construction projects throughout Florida.

The APM will play an important role in coordinating project documentation, subcontractors, schedules, budgets, procurement, and communication between the project team and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager with the day-to-day management of large-scale commercial construction projects
  • Assist with projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, architects, engineers, consultants, vendors, owners, and other project stakeholders
  • Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and other project documentation

  • Assist with project scheduling, logistics, and milestone tracking
  • Monitor project costs, commitments, and change orders
  • Assist with subcontractor procurement and contract administration
  • Participate in project and subcontractor coordination meetings
  • Track outstanding project items and ensure follow-up
  • Work closely with the Superintendent and field team to coordinate construction activities
  • Assist with quality-control documentation and project requirements
  • Help identify potential issues and develop solutions before they impact schedule or budget
  • Maintain organized project records throughout construction
  • Assist with owner communications and project reporting
  • Support punch-list, turnover, and project closeout activities
  • Utilize construction technology and project management systems throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
  • 2+ years of commercial construction experience
  • Experience with commercial, multifamily, hospitality, high-rise, mixed-use, or similarly complex construction projects
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation
  • Experience coordinating with subcontractors, vendors, architects, and engineers
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred
  • Exposure to BIM/VDC or other construction technology preferred
  • Willingness to work in an active construction environment
  • Valid driver's license

The ideal candidate is an APM who wants to work on projects that are bigger, more complex, and more challenging than the typical commercial build. If you're looking to build the experience necessary to become a Project Manager and want your next move to put you around some of the strongest construction teams in Florida, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
