Job summary

Vivvi in Brooklyn, NY, is seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher to support a 3K/UPK classroom full-time. You’ll work with the Head Teacher to implement play-based curricula, foster curiosity and social-emotional growth, and build strong family partnerships while meeting NYS UPK/3K expectations.

Candidates should have UPK classroom experience and be in the process of obtaining NY State teaching certification (B-2 or N-6), with a 3–5 year preschool background, a BA in Early Childhood Education,

Qualifications

• UPK classroom experience is required.
• Currently in the process of obtaining NYS Early Childhood teaching certification (B-2 or N-6).
• 3–5 years of preschool or early childhood teaching experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

Responsibilities

• Support the 3K/UPK classroom with creativity, warmth, and purpose.
• Collaborate with Head Teacher to implement play-based and emergent curricula.
• Support cognitive, social, and emotional development using SEL and inquiry-based instruction.

We are seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher / Early Childhood Educator to support a 3K / UPK classroom in our innovative early learning center. This full-time preschool teaching role in New York City is ideal for an experienced Assistant Teacher who has hands-on experience working in UPK classrooms and is currently in the process of obtaining their New York State teaching certification. This role offers an opportunity to continue developing as an educator with the potential to grow into a future Head Teacher role.

As an Assistant Preschool Teacher, youâll support a dynamic 3-4-year-old classroom, fostering curiosity, independence, and confidence through engaging learning experiences and strong family partnerships while working closely with the Head Teacher and classroom team.

What You’ll Do

Support the 3K / UPK preschool classroom with creativity, warmth, and purpose.

• Support the 3-4 year-old preschool classroom in a licensed New York City early learning center.
• Partner with the Head Teacher to implement developmentally appropriate curriculum using play-based learning, emergent curriculum, and creative curriculum approaches.
• Support childrenâs cognitive, social, and emotional development through Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and inquiry-based instruction.
• Assist with observing and tracking developmental progress using Teaching Strategies GOLD and other observation-based tools.
• Build strong relationships with children and families and communicate regularly about milestones and progress.
• Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and well-organized early childhood classroom environment.
• Collaborate with the Head Teacher, teaching team, and school leadership to implement curriculum aligned with NYS early learning standards and UPK / 3K program expectations.
• Take an active role in classroom routines, transitions, small-group activities, and daily learning experiences.
• Continue developing the skills and experience necessary to grow into a future Head Teacher opportunity.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working in a UPK classroom is required.
• Candidates must currently be in the process of obtaining their New York State Early Childhood teaching certification (B-2 or N-6).
• 3â5 years of preschool or early childhood teaching experience, ideally including experience in a 3K, UPK, or preschool classroom.
• Bachelorâs degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
• Experience working in a licensed childcare center, private preschool, or early learning center.
• Familiarity with play-based learning, emergent curriculum, creative curriculum approaches, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
• Passion for working with young children and seeing every child as capable and curious.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
• CPR / First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
• Interest in and potential to grow into a future Head Teacher role.
