Summary of Position

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Athletics and managed by the Head Men's Basketball Coach, the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach helps implement and manage all phases of a competitive Men's Basketball program in accordance with NCAA, Conference, and Converse University regulations, in a courteous, helpful, unbiased, and professional manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Team Management (40%): Assist in providing leadership, guidance, and strategy development for the team. Responsibilities include coaching, academic monitoring, promoting team unity, managing social media, and supporting student-athletes’ welfare.
2. Recruiting (25%): Assist in recruiting quality student-athletes through personal contact, evaluations, and campus visits, collaborating with compliance and admissions departments.
3. Program Management (10%): Help plan and execute practices, conditioning, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.
4. Meet Management Duties: Prepare for and manage game day activities, including setup and entries.
5. Team Work (10%): Ensure compliance with policies, coordinate publicity efforts, and participate in committees and meetings.
6. Developmental Team Oversight (10%): Support development team activities, including workouts, travel, and recruitment.
7. Community Engagement (5%): Build relationships with community organizations, schools, and participate in outreach, fundraisers, and camps.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Bachelor's degree, knowledge of NCAA rules, commitment to liberal arts education.
• Preferred: 3-4 years of coaching experience, strong communication, organizational, leadership skills, and ability to handle confidential information.

Additional Information

Work schedule varies, including evenings and weekends. Valid SC Driver's License required. The role involves decision-making, influencing leadership, and managing complex tasks with discretion.
