Job summary

GPM Investments' Village Pantry store in Muncie is hiring an Assistant Manager to help run daily store operations. You will support the Store Manager, supervise staff, and ensure customer service excellence across shifts, including weekends and holidays.

You will oversee cash handling, scheduling, inventory, and merchandising, while promoting upsell opportunities and staff development. This full-time role offers growth into store leadership with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Open Availability: weekends, holidays, and second/third shifts.
• Reliable transportation with valid license, vehicle, and insurance for deposits.
• Physical readiness for cleaning, trash, and pump areas.
• Minimum age 21+ years old.
• Proficient in English with basic math skills.
• Willing to learn and grow in retail leadership.
• Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in day-to-day operations.
• Run the register and assist customers with speed, accuracy, and a great attitude.
• Coach and motivate team members to upsell products and promotions.
• Help hire, train, and lead a high-performing team focused on service and store success.
• Step in as acting manager when the Store Manager is off.
• Handle inventory, ordering, and merchandising to keep stock full.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming store including restrooms and pumps.
• Create and manage team schedules for full coverage.
• Perform daily cash handling, deposits, and oversee store financials.
• Provide feedback and leadership to motivate excellence.
• Other duties as assigned
