Job summary

Waynesboro Country Club in the Appalachian region seeks an Assistant Golf Professional to support daily golf shop operations, tournament administration, instruction, merchandising and member services alongside the Head Golf Professional.

This 35–40 hour/week position runs March–October with evenings and weekends required; mentorship, opportunities for PGA membership, access to practice facilities, and a friendly team environment are included.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a golf operations role at a private club, resort, or daily-fee facility preferred.
• PGA Associate status or a strong interest in pursuing PGA Membership preferred.
• Experience assisting with tournaments, leagues, and golf events.
• Basic teaching and instructional experience a plus.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of daily golf operations, including managing the first tee, monitoring pace of play, and ensuring a seamless experience for members.
• Serve as a club and regional ambassador, representing Waynesboro Country Club and promoting an exceptional golf experience.
• Support the Head Golf Professional with training, supervision, and mentorship of golf shop and bag room staff.
• Play frequently with member groups to enhance the member experience.
• Assist with player development programs, including clinics, camps, and instruction under the Head Professional's guidance.
• Support the planning, organization, and execution of tournaments and events, ensuring smooth operations from registration to scoring.
• Assist with merchandising, inventory, and golf shop operations, providing excellent service to members.

Overview Waynesboro Country Club is a private country club nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains with a strong, golf-focused membership. The Club features a 6,596-yard championship golf course that offers an engaging and playable test for golfers of all skill levels. With excellent course conditions and approximately 20,000 rounds played annually, Waynesboro Country Club offers a traditional private club golf operation with an emphasis on course conditions, pace of play, and member service. The golf course is open twelve months of the year, weather permitting.

The Club provides a range of practice facilities for members, including a driving range extending over 300 yards and a 220-yard 19th hole used as a versatile practice area. A nine-hole putting green is also available to support all aspects of game improvement.

The Assistant Golf Professional will be an integral part of the golf operation, assisting in delivering a first-class experience to the membership & guests. Responsibilities include supporting daily golf shop operations, tournament administration, instruction, merchandising, and member services, while working closely with the Head Golf Professional in a collaborative, professional environment.

This position is expected to work approximately 35-40 hours per week from March through October, including evenings and weekends. The schedule includes two days off each week, with greater flexibility during the winter months.

Experience Required
