Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant, rooftop, bar, event, and entertainment operations.

  • Ensure smooth opening, shift transition, and closing procedures.
  • Monitor labor, staffing levels, guest flow, reservations, seating efficiency, and service execution.
  • Ensure SOPs are consistently followed and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Lead, coach, motivate, and develop front-of-house leadership and hourly employees.
  • Oversee nightly cash handling and financial accountability.
  • Support inventory controls, purchasing procedures, and cost management initiatives.
  • Assist in achieving departmental sales, labor, beverage, and profitability goals.
  • Monitor operational KPIs and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with Event Sales Manager to ensure seamless execution of private events and programming.
  • Support event setup, staffing, execution, and breakdown as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with ABC, health dept, labor, and safety regulations.
  • Promote a safe working environment and coordinate with vendors as needed.
  • Partner with General Manager to implement operational initiatives and SOPs.
  • Support new program launches, menu rollouts, marketing initiatives, and community events.
  • The Assistant General Manager is responsible for leadership development across the management team and serving as the General Manager's primary operational partner.

Harry's at Hofheimer is seeking an experienced, energetic, and hospitality-driven Assistant General Manager to help lead one of Richmond's most unique restaurant, entertainment, and event destinations.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager serves as the operational leader responsible for executing exceptional guest experiences while supporting every aspect of daily business operations. This individual provides leadership across restaurant service, rooftop operations, private events, live entertainment, and team development while ensuring consistency with Harry's hospitality standards and company culture.

Primary ResponsibilitiesOperations Leadership
  • Support the General Manager in overseeing all daily restaurant, rooftop, bar, event, and entertainment operations.
  • Act as Manager-on-Duty during assigned shifts and assume responsibility for overall building operations.
  • Ensure smooth opening, shift transition, and closing procedures.
  • Monitor labor, staffing levels, guest flow, reservations, seating efficiency, and service execution.
  • Ensure all operational systems, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are consistently followed.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement solutions that improve efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Coordinate communication between Front of House, Kitchen, Events, Marketing, and Entertainment teams.
  • Lead, coach, motivate, and develop front-of-house leadership and hourly employees.
  • Supervise Floor Managers while providing ongoing coaching and accountability.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
  • Lead daily pre-shift meetings and communicate company initiatives, menu updates, promotions, and operational priorities.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture built on professionalism, accountability, and hospitality.
  • Assist in conflict resolution and employee performance management.
Guest Experience
  • Serve as a visible hospitality leader throughout the building.
  • Build relationships with guests while creating memorable experiences.
  • Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally.
  • Ensure service standards remain consistently high across every department.
  • Monitor ambiance, cleanliness, music, lighting, and overall atmosphere throughout the property.
  • Assist the General Manager with labor management, scheduling, payroll review, and productivity goals.
  • Oversee nightly cash handling and financial accountability.
  • Support inventory controls, purchasing procedures, and cost management initiatives.
  • Assist in achieving departmental sales, labor, beverage, and profitability goals.
  • Monitor operational KPIs and recommend improvements.
Event + Programming Support
  • Collaborate with the Event Sales Manager and Event Services Manager to ensure seamless execution of private events and public programming.
  • Support event setup, staffing, execution, and breakdown when necessary.
  • Ensure event operations reflect Harry's service standards and brand expectations.
Safety + Facility Oversight
  • Maintain compliance with all ABC, health department, labor, and safety regulations.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and well-maintained facility.
  • Address maintenance issues and coordinate with vendors as needed.
  • Promote a safe working environment for employees and guests.
Leadership + Strategic Support
  • Partner with the General Manager to implement operational initiatives and long-term business objectives.
  • Assist with developing SOPs, training materials, and operational improvements.
  • Support new program launches, menu rollouts, marketing initiatives, and community events.
  • Serve as the General Manager's primary operational partner and assume leadership responsibilities in their absence.
Qualifications
