Job summary

Panera Bread is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead a bakery-cafe team and partner with the General Manager to drive guest satisfaction and growth. You will inspire staff, recruit and train talent, and uphold Panera’s standards for food quality, safety, and service.

You will oversee scheduling, development, and performance, ensuring a positive culture and strong store results while maintaining a welcoming, high-energy environment for guests and teammates alike.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18.
• 1+ years of restaurant management experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification (or ability to achieve).
• Proven ability to drive positive results through strong business acumen.
• Proven availability to run great shifts while directing, motivating, coaching and developing others in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible hours including nights and weekends; background check required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage staffing, shift scheduling, people development, and succession planning.
• Assist hiring, onboarding, and training while motivating and celebrating the team.
• Manage team performance to meet goals, quality, and guest service standards.
• Partner with the General Manager to develop managers on processes and Panera values.
• Ensure guests are delighted by food, service, and team interactions.
• Support cost control, inventory, and adherence to policies and safety standards.
