Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our preconstruction team in Boston, MA. You will take ownership of estimates, work with subcontractors and vendors, and collaborate with project teams to deliver competitive, accurate bids.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in construction estimating for a commercial GC, strong math and IT skills, and excellent negotiation abilities. This role offers growth with a respected firm and a robust project pipeline.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction estimating or a similar role.
• Experience in project bidding, budgeting, value engineering, MTO, negotiation, and cost analysis.
• Strong mathematical and IT abilities with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and regulations.
• Proficiency in industry-specific software and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Problem-solving skills and sound decision-making.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Professional certification in construction estimating or related field a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for bidding and budgeting.
• Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and architects to understand requirements and timelines.
• Analyze designs and specifications to determine project costs.
• Leverage MTO to calculate material quantities.
• Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to identify savings.
• Participate in negotiations with contractors and suppliers.
• Monitor industry prices to secure best deals.
• Prepare and present detailed reports and estimates to stakeholders.
• Maintain updated project cost databases.
• Ensure compliance with company estimating standards.
