Job summary

Wainwright Talent Partners is seeking an Estimator in Boston to produce detailed project estimates from drawings and specs. You will assist the Lead Estimator with material, equipment, labor costs, and bid accuracy, coordinating with Project Managers and staff to craft competitive proposals.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in construction estimating, BS in a related field, and proficiency with BlueBeam, Primavera, and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Four years of construction experience with at least two years in estimating.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Support subcontractor and supplier estimating and bidding processes.
  • Process RFPs, RFQs and internal pricing requests and facilitate bidding opportunities.
  • Draft, proof, review, and deliver private and public proposals.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Marketing, and staff for proposals.
  • Qualify sub-tier bids for completeness and compliance.
  • Develop, prepare, coordinate, and execute presentations to clients.

Job description

Job Summary

The Estimator is responsible for detailed estimates for the project based on the construction drawings and specifications. Assists with the communication of bids and scopes of work. This position also assists Lead Estimator to establish costs for materials, equipment, subcontracted work, production activities, requirements, and labor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support all aspects of subcontractor and supplier estimating and bidding processes.
  • Process RFP, RFQ, and internal pricing request and facilitate broadcast announcement of bidding opportunity.
  • Competently draft, proof, review, and deliver both private and public proposals.
  • Work with Project Managers, Marketing, and administrative staff coordinating contributions from all into proposals.
  • Qualify sub-tier bids for completeness and compliance.
  • Ensure company compliance with bidding regulations and goals of each project (advertising, etc.)
  • Develop, prepare, coordinate, and execute presentations and proposals to existing or new clients.
  • Work on multiple company bids simultaneously and delivering in accordance with deadline objectives.
  • Operate and maintain proficiency in all internal estimating systems, technologies, and software.
  • Minimizes exposure and risk by implementing quality assurance controls in estimating. Promptly reports changes and issues in scope and revenue to senior management.
  • Identify and execute strategic opportunities within proposal to optimize clients position in securing the work.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Experience in estimating commercial construction projects.
  • Able to read, understand and follow required construction documents.
  • Proficient in construction estimating software (BlueBeam, Primavera Scheduling. MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills & strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Able to work with external clients using strong commercial awareness.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong leadership attributes.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Familiarity with cost control methods and financial & project management principles.
  • In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation metrics
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
Education and Experience
  • BS degree in Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management or equivalent field experience.
  • Minimum of four (4) years construction experience with a minimum of two (2) years of estimating experience.
