Job summary

The University of New Haven seeks an Assistant Director of Financial Aid to join the Office of Financial Aid in West Haven, CT. You will lead frontline support, review aid files, and process awards to help students and families.

The role requires knowledge of federal regulations and experience with Banner and PowerFAIDS, with a commitment to delivering exceptional service in person, online, and by phone.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; 2–4 years in Financial Aid preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Banner and PowerFAIDS preferred.
• Knowledge of Title IV financial aid regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform needs analysis, packaging and verification of student financial aid awards and files.
• Process financial aid for all students studying away from UNH including study abroad, co-op programs, etc.
• Counsel students and families regarding aid applications, eligibility and programs.
• Assist with student and parent loan processing.
• Generate financial aid reports as needed.
• Present financial aid information and workshops both on and off campus to a variety of audiences.
• Remain informed and updated on state and federal financial aid regulations.
• Assist the Office of Financial Aid by providing exceptional service to students and other customers, both internal and external, in person, online, and via phone and email.
• Propose innovative solutions to issues identified during customer contact.
• Research process improvements and implement efficiencies.
• Promote teamwork, collaboration, and resource sharing across the Office of Financial Aid and other Enrollment Services areas.
