Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital Facilities Planning Department seeks an Assistant Director of Hospital Architectural Services (HAS) to provide leadership, technical expertise, and project oversight across planning and design phases.

The role reports to the Director of Hospital Architectural Services and engages with Hospital Facilities Planning AVP, physicians, and administrators to align projects with SUNY and NYS requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering is required.
• Minimum 5 years of design and construction documents experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Familiarity with NYS building codes and healthcare facility guidelines (FGI, NFPA 101).
• Professional licensure such as PE or RA and valid NYS driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of design development for hospital facilities and renovations.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and quality.
• Supervise HAS staff and manage project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, TJC requirements, and hospital priorities.
