Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital seeks an Assistant Director of Hospital Architectural Services to provide leadership, technical expertise, and oversight across planning and design phases. The role requires coordinating with hospital leadership, consultants, and clinical staff to advance safe, sustainable capital projects.

You will supervise HAS staff, ensure compliance with NYS regulations, and manage complex projects within budget and schedule while aligning with SUNY/SUCF priorities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering.
• At least 5 years of design and construction document experience with 2 years in supervision.
• Familiarity with ADA and NYS building codes for healthcare facilities.
• Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Professional licensure such as PE or RA is required.
• Valid NYS driver's license and transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of architectural design and project management for hospital rehabilitation/renovation projects.
• Coordinate design with M,E disciplines and outside consultants.
• Supervise HAS staff and manage contracts with vendors/contractors.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (NYSDOH, TJC) and hospital priorities.
• Engage with hospital leadership, physicians, and clinical staff to plan additions or renovations.
• Develop and maintain capital facilities plans and project scopes.
