The University of Toledo is seeking an Assistant Director of Biomedical Engineering to lead and shape the hospital's Biomedical Engineering Department. This role supports the safe, reliable operation of medical equipment and drives regulatory compliance, equipment reliability, and staff development.

Collaborating with clinical, operational, and executive leadership, the incumbent will champion continuous process improvement and cost-effective technology strategies across the organization.

Qualifications

• Eight years’ experience with maintenance and repair of high-technology imaging systems.
• Factory training with major radiology and radiation therapy manufacturers.
• CRES and CBET certification required.
• Advanced networking configuration and troubleshooting skills and PACS/RIS knowledge.
• Familiarity with Windows, Linux, Unix systems.

Assists in the leadership, management, and strategic direction ofthe hospital's Biomedical Engineering Department. This role is responsible for supporting the safe,reliable, and cost-effective operation of medical equipment and technology systems throughout the organization. Thisposition will also collaborate with clinical, operational, and executive leadership to ensureregulatory compliance, equipment reliability, staff development, and continuous process improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of an Associate of Applied Science Degree in BiomedicalEquipment Technology or equivalent from an accredited program is required.


• Minimum of eight years’ relevant experience with maintenance andrepair of high technology imaging systems.


• Factory training with major manufacturers of radiology andradiation therapy systems required.


• CRES and CBET certification required.


• Advanced networking configuration and troubleshooting skills andPACS/RIS knowledge required.


• Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix,etc.) required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A working knowledge of hospital financial and budget systems.


• Knowledge of cost savings and revenue enhancementmethodologies.


• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in clear concisemanner.


• Computer skills to include knowledge of spreadsheets, databasesand graphical presentations.


• Strong leadership and team-building abilities.


• Must be familiar with all applicable codes and standardsincluding (but not limited to) TJC, CMS, NFPA,OHSA,SMDA,FDA.
