Job summary

The University of Toledo Health Science Campus seeks an X-ray Sr Technol Spec (Cardiovascular Interventional Specialist) to support demanding cardiac/interventional procedures. The role involves scrubbing/monitoring, equipment upkeep, and supply management on a full-time basis.

Qualified candidates must have AMA-approved radiologic training, Ohio license, ARRT registration, CPR certification, and be willing to work on-call. On-site at HSC H, shift 1; posted salary range noted below.

Job Description:

As a member of the Health Care Team, under the direction of the Attending physician, provides technical assistance by scrubbing and or monitoring a variety of Cardiac/ Vascular and Neuro diagnostic and interventional procedures. Participates in maintenance of lab equipment, materials, supplies, and ordering processes.

All employees must adhere to the following at all times:

  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures as well as addresses patient safety, performance improvement, and quality of care issues.
  • 1. Adheres to all radiation safety issues by wearing badges, lead and recording length of exposure to patients.
  • 2. Adheres to NPSG 07.01.01 by effectively washing hands when going from one patient to the next.
  • Knowledgeable about patient safety and quality of care issues. Able to recognize safety issues in the department and handles incidents per institutional and/or departmental policies and procedures. If safety issues were identified; all issues were handled timely and appropriately.
  • Department education and training focus has a direct impact on patient safety and reduces unsafe working conditions for employees.
  • Employee attends and follows all department specific safety education and training in an effort to create a safe work environment.
  • 1. Recognises Frayed Cord:
    Reports equipment dysfunction in timely manner.
    Make sure alternate process is in place and action is taken.
    Reduces adverse results or impact to patient care and the employee.
  • 2. Recognize exposure to Blood:
    Worked as a team to limit exposure and create a safe work environment.
    Safety concerns: The manager has been timely with staff training and education.
    Wiping up spills.
  • 3. Follows standardized approach for handoff communication
    Follows policy and Standard of Care for communication including the opportunity to ask and respond to questions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Indicate minimum required to qualify or perform this job.)
  • Required Education/Experience/Licensing:
  • 1) Satisfactory completion of formal radiological technology training in an AMA-approved school.
  • 2) Must be licensed in the State of Ohio
  • 3) ARRT registered.
  • 4) Assume on-call responsibilities.
  • 6) Must hold current CPR certification.
  • 7) Physical requirements:
    a) visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable;
    b) ability to hear (with or without aides)
    c) ability to orally communicate
    d) good manual dexterity
    e) ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally
    f) ability to stand, walk frequently
    g) ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently; and
    h) ability to perform CPR (if required for position).

  • Communication and other skills:
    1. Exhibits accuracy, integrity and flexibility; is punctual and dependable.

    4. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills; possesses group facilitation skills.
