Job summary

The University of Toledo Health Science Campus is seeking a Staff Technologist - Diagnostic in the Radiology-Diagnostic department. This part-time role performs radiographic procedures under a radiologist, with opportunities to assist in interventional procedures while representing UTMC in the community.

Minimum qualifications include AMA-approved radiologic technology training, ARRT radiography registration, CPR certification, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates clinical competency in caring of patients as identified in department’s Scope of Care.
  • Demonstrates competency across life cycle: infants to geriatrics, and special populations.
  • Responds effectively to customer service needs.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Complies with state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school.
  • ARRT Radiography Registered with current ODH licensure.
  • CPR certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Under radiologist direction, performs radiographic procedures at a technical level with limited supervision.
  • Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures; may assist radiologist in interventional procedures.
  • Acts as UTMC ambassador, upholding values, services and mission.
  • Communicates clearly with medical staff, patients and families; reports data accurately and promptly.
  • Adheres to iCare Standards and customer service expectations.

Job Description:

Under the direction of a radiologist, performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Can assist the radiologist in interventional procedures. Serves as an ambassador of UTMC in the community, demonstrating our organization’s values, services and mission.

  • 1. Demonstrates clinical competency in caring of patients as identified in department’s Scope of Care.
  • 2. Demonstrates competency in the care of the patient in the following stages of the life cycle: infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics, as well as special population needs.
  • 3. Effectively responds to customer service needs.
    • a. Demonstrates effective age and culturally appropriate interaction with patients, families and other member of the health care team.
    • b. Adheres to UTMC’s Customer Service values and iCare Standards.
    • c. Seeks out ways to assist patients and co-workers.
  • 4. Actively participates in performance improvement activities as related to job duties.
  • 5. Responsible for compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • 6. Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school.
  • 7. ARRT Radiography Registered with current ODH licensure.
  • 8. CPR certification through the American Heart Association.
Communication and Other Skills
  • 1. Possesses skills in communication; both verbal and written.
  • 2. With medical staff and hospital personnel as well as referring physicians and their offices; stats and critical test results.
  • 3. Uses verbal and written communication to report data concerning patients to appropriate individuals in an accurate, timely and confidential manner.
  • 4. Promptly reports any errors or deviations from operational standards.
  • 5. Identifies self to customers as X-Ray Technologist.
  • 6. Direct all incoming telephone and written communication to the appropriate section of Radiology.
