Job summary

CLA is hiring an Assistant Controller for our Higher Education Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice, with locations including Austin, TX. The role drives client accounting, advisory services, and project management for multiple higher education clients, ensuring GAAP compliance and timely financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of accounting experience, a Bachelor's degree, and familiarity with major accounting software.

Qualifications

• 6 years of relevant accounting/financial experience.
• Experience in Higher Education industry strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of experience/education.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions for the client’s accounting services team.
• Act as consultant/advisor on accounting and finance best practices.
• Provide project management across multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare/analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster opportunities for clients, communities, and people.
• Attend industry events and training; maintain policy knowledge.
