Job summary

CLA is seeking an Assistant Controller for our Higher Education Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice. This role supports clients across multiple locations, delivering accounting services, analysis, and advisory guidance.

Responsibilities include leading client engagements, preparing financial statements, and managing deadlines while applying GAAP and industry best practices. Strong collaboration with teams and continuous professional development are expected.

Qualifications

• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Experience in the Higher Education Industry is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency in accounting software is expected; familiarity with listed tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions as part of the client's accounting services team and manage these functions for your clients.
• Act as a consultant and advisor to clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities for clients, communities, and people.
• Become an industry professional and attend industry-leading events and training.
