Job summary

CLA is seeking an Assistant Controller for our Higher Education Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice. The role supports our client accounting services team and manages Assistant Controller functions for multiple clients, delivering timely financial statements and strategic recommendations.

The position requires 6 years of accounting/finance experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and a Bachelor’s degree; Higher Education experience is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Six years of relevant accounting/financial experience required.
• Experience in the Higher Education industry is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is required or a combination of related experience and training.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency with common accounting software mentioned above.

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions for the client's accounting services team.
• Act as a consultant and advisor on accounting and finance engagements.
• Provide project management across multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster opportunities for clients, communities, and people.
• Attend industry-leading events and training.
• Maintain knowledge of policies, directives, and current accounting standards.
