Job summary

Joseph’s Classic Market is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead the day‑to‑day accounting for a growing, family‑owned business. You’ll work closely with the CFO to ensure accurate financials, timely closes, and strong accounting controls.

This hands‑on role requires technical strength, high organization, and the ability to mentor the accounting team while maintaining audit readiness and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial statements, and account reconciliations.
• Experience with cash management, AP, AR, accruals, and intercompany accounting.
• Strong Excel and accounting/ERP system skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close, prepare financial statements and journal entries.
• Maintain GL integrity and oversee reconciliations.
• Manage daily cash accounting activity and cash reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Provide leadership to accounting team members.
• Support audits, tax and CPA requests.
• Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses.
