Job summary

V2X Inc. in the United States is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead program and financial accounting for multiple government contracts within the Aerospace Division.

You will ensure fiscal compliance, cost accuracy, strong internal controls, and timely reporting under FAR/DFARS/CAS and ASC 606. You will supervise accounting staff, coordinate audits with DCAA/DCMA, and collaborate with program managers to optimize profitability and funding use while supporting ERP initiatives such as SAP S4

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master's degree preferred or CPA certification.
  • 8+ years of accounting and finance experience with close processes and GAAP/autonomic compliance.
  • Experience with government contracting and audit readiness is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for government programs with accurate cost allocation and ASC 606.
  • Supervise accounting staff responsible for program financials and audit support.
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules with FAR/DFARS and CAS adherence.
  • Act as primary financial liaison for DCAA/DCMA auditors and coordinate audits.
  • Collaborate with program managers, contracts, and leadership on performance, funding, and compliance.
  • Oversee timekeeping, labor distribution, and cost segregation to maintain audit readiness.
  • Assist in policy development to strengthen internal controls and compliance framework.
  • Support ERP implementations and SAP S/4HANA upgrade efforts.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

  • The Assistant Controller is a key member of our Finance & Accounting team, responsible for comprehensive program and financial accounting for multiple government contracts within the Aerospace Division. This hands‑on leadership role ensures fiscal compliance, program cost accuracy, robust internal controls, and timely reporting in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for assigned government programs, ensuring precision in financial reporting, cost allocation, and revenue recognition (ASC 606).
  • Directly supervise and mentor accounting staff responsible for program financials, and audit support.
  • Prepare, review, and approve complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and schedules; ensure adherence to FAR/DFARS and CAS.
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison for DCAA/DCMA auditors; coordinate audit preparation, respond to audit requests, and resolve findings.
  • Collaborate closely with program managers, contracts, supply chain, and executive leadership on program performance, funding requirements, and contract compliance.
  • Oversee timekeeping, labor distribution, and cost segregation processes to maintain accounting integrity and ongoing audit readiness.
  • Assist in policy and procedure development to strengthen internal controls and compliance framework.
  • Support and lead ERP/accounting system implementations and process enhancements (preferably SAP S4 Hanna).
  • Participate in budget development, forecasting, and trending analyses for government-funded programs.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting to drive program profitability and financial stewardship.
  • Coordinate preparation of financial data for external/internal audits.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained. (One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 8 years of accounting and finance experience.
    • Managing or supporting month-end and year-end close processes, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations.
    • Experience with job costing, project accounting, or other allocation-based financial processes (government contracting experience a plus but not required).
    • Preparing internal and external financial statements and supporting documentation.
    • Implementing and maintaining internal controls and supporting audit readiness.
    • Working with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and compliance with company policies.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline.
    • CPA
    • Experience supporting major DoD, NASA, or other federal agency contracts.
    • Prior Big 4 or public accounting firm experience.
    • Working knowledge of revenue recognition (ASC 606) and program EVMS reporting.
    • Exposure to SOX/internal controls and process improvement initiatives.
    • Deep knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA/contract audit procedures.
  • Other Requirements:
    • U.S. Citizenship required.
    • Active security clearance or ability to obtain is a plus.
  • Software:
    • Proficient with ERP/accounting software (Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel.
  • Technology:
    • Company-issued computer, printer, copy machine and other general office equipment.

  • The following salary range is intended to display the value of the company’s base pay compensation and may be modified at the discretion of the company.
    • USD $ 150,000 - 220,000
  • Provided salary range minimum and maximum values correspond to variances between regional/geographic locations across the United States.
