An established and rapidly expanding organization is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Controller to enhance its growing finance department. This individual will be an essential member of the accounting leadership team, responsible for overseeing global accounting functions, leading the monthly closing cycle, and supporting technical accounting, compliance, and reporting activities.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in U.S. GAAP (particularly ASC 606 and ASC 842), demonstrate operational precision, and have experience in a subscription or SaaS-based environment. This role requires someone passionate about process improvement, internal controls, and financial accuracy in a dynamic, growth-oriented business setting.

Primary Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Close

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial results in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Oversee key account reconciliations and schedules such as deferred revenue, accruals, prepaids, and accounts receivable.
• Lead balance sheet variance analysis and prepare internal management reporting.
• Coordinate consolidation and intercompany eliminations across multiple entities.
• Collaborate on streamlining close timelines and building scalable accounting practices.

Technical Accounting & Compliance

• Apply thorough knowledge of GAAP standards (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, stock compensation) for complex transactions.
• Support accounting considerations for international operations, with working knowledge of IFRS and Swiss GAAP.
• Maintain documentation of accounting positions and internal policies.
• Assist with annual audits, tax compliance, and financial reporting obligations.
• Enhance internal control procedures to meet compliance requirements similar to SOX standards.

Revenue and Quote-to-Cash Process

• Contribute to revenue analysis for subscription-based services, usage models, and professional service contracts.
• Work closely with internal teams such as Revenue Operations, Sales, and Customer Success to assess contract accounting implications.
• Help design and optimize quote-to-cash processes, ensuring accuracy in billing and revenue recognition.

Systems and Automation

• Utilize financial systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Salesforce) to increase automation and accuracy in reporting and reconciliations.
• Ensure data consistency across CRM, billing, and finance platforms.
• Participate in finance system improvements, including new implementations and upgrades.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with FP&A to align actuals with forecasts and assist in variance analysis.
• Advise Legal, HR, and Procurement teams on accounting implications related to contracts and benefits.
• Support special projects such as mergers and acquisitions, internal process mapping, and overall finance transformation efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally a blend of public accounting and in-house corporate roles.
• Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and ASC 842 applied in a software or recurring revenue environment.
• Experience with international accounting standards (IFRS and/or Swiss GAAP) is preferred.
• Prior background in a high-growth, B2B software company is a strong advantage.
• Hands-on proficiency with ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred), CRM tools, and revenue management software.
• Advanced Excel skills and a strong ability to analyze and synthesize financial data.
