Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club, a leading membership warehouse, seeks an Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT) – Perishables in Chesapeake, VA. You will partner with the Club Manager to lead department teams, ensure policy execution, uphold GOLD standards, and develop talent across perishables, merchandising, or member experience tracks.

This role offers focused leadership development, certification in food safety, and potential progression to one of three assistant manager positions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in retail store operations management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-development skills.
• Ability to recruit, onboard, and mentor staff across multiple departments.
• Forklift certification and ServSafe certification preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Provide Strategic Department Leadership across departments and drive club standards.
• Recruit, Hire, and Onboard Team Members for assigned departments.
• Oversee Labor Planning and Scheduling aligned with trends and budgets.
• Drive Sales, Inventory Control, and Shrink Management through execution.
• Champion Member Experience Standards: GAA, GOLD, and service guidelines.
• Execute Operational Readiness to keep departments clean, stocked, and safe.
• Lead Department Talent Management with performance reviews and development.
• Utilize BJ’s MY WORK System to support club compliance and performance.
