Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club is hiring for an Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT). You’ll partner with the Club Manager to lead departments, develop talent, and drive performance. This program prepares you for one of three tracks: Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience.

You’ll oversee policy execution, member service, and GOLD standards while gaining certification and leadership experience across the club. This on-site role includes development opportunities and operational responsibility.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a retail store, supermarket, or warehouse operations manager.
• Strong drive for results; honest, straightforward, and service-oriented.
• Excellent communication; able to lead and motivate a large team.
• Knowledge of shrink controls, merchandising, customer service, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
• Leadership capabilities; experience in training and developing teams.
• Store operations, membership, front-line, gas station, and omni procedures knowledge.
• High school diploma and/or college degree preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge (MS Word, MS Excel, Email).
• Must obtain and maintain ServSafe certification.
• Forklift operator required.
• Open shift availability required.
• At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations across assigned departments (Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience).
• Recruit, hire, and onboard team members.
• Plan and schedule labor effectively.
• Drive sales, inventory control, and shrink management.
• Enforce Member Experience standards: GAA, GOLD.
• Ensure operational readiness and safe, clean club.
• Lead department talent development and performance reviews.
• Utilize BJ’s MY WORK system for daily tasks.
• Operate forklifts where required.
• Maintain regular, predictable attendance.
