Job summary

Hotel Equities is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to lead daily hotel engineering operations, supervise maintenance staff, and coordinate preventive maintenance programs across properties. You will work closely with leadership to ensure safe, compliant, and guest-ready facilities.

The role requires hands-on supervision, strong organizational skills, and the ability to train and develop engineering staff while delivering cost-effective maintenance and energy management solutions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One to two years of post-secondary education or technical training preferred.
• Minimum of two to three years of experience in hotel engineering or related field.
• Advanced knowledge of building systems, engineering operations, and preventive maintenance practices.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily engineering operations, ensuring maintenance activities are completed efficiently and according to standards.
• Assist with interviewing, scheduling, training, coaching, and developing engineering associates.
• Provide ongoing performance feedback, address associate concerns, and support evaluations and corrective actions.
• Implement and coordinate preventive maintenance programs for facilities and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with company and brand standards, codes, and safety regulations.
• Prioritize, schedule, and monitor maintenance requests to minimize disruptions.
• Inspect life safety systems to ensure proper operation and compliance.
• Monitor utility consumption and identify energy efficiency opportunities.
• Review purchase requests and support budget management and cost-control initiatives.
• Maintain maintenance schedules, inspection records, and service logs.
• Identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate with hotel departments to address maintenance needs.
