Job summary

JL Hospitality Management, LLC seeks a Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering/Maintenance department and ensure safe, reliable operations of the hotel's assets.

The role combines hands-on maintenance with strategic oversight of preventive programs, vendor management, and budgeting. You will mentor staff, respond to urgent maintenance needs, and collaborate with hotel leadership to deliver a welcoming, well‑maintained property for guests and team members.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel, commercial building, or property maintenance required.
• Prior supervisory or maintenance leadership experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of general building maintenance.
• Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, painting.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and building systems.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
• Ability to read manuals and technical instructions.
• Ability to manage department expenses and inventory.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation of Engineering/Maintenance department.
• Maintain the condition, functionality, safety, and appearance of the hotel and building systems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance work orders and guest requests.
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain hotel equipment and systems.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs.
• Manage guestroom preventive maintenance per standards.
• Inspect property for safety and operation.
• Maintain records of maintenance and service history.
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers.
• Assist General Manager with budgeting and forecasting.
• Manage operating expenses and inventory.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
