Job summary

JLL is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer for Data Center Facilities in Austin, TX, to oversee operations, manage technical teams, and optimize data center performance, reliability, and efficiency. The role requires strong leadership, 5+ years in data center operations, and expertise in power, cooling, and network systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data center operations and management.
• Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, and network architecture.
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices (e.g., ASHRAE, TIA, Uptime Institute).
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Proficiency in using facility management software and building automation systems.
• Proficiency in the use of Work Order Management Software (CMMS).
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the management and coordination of data center facility operations and maintenance activities.
• Supervise and mentor technical staff, including engineers, technicians, and contractors.
• Monitor and analyze critical systems performance, including power, cooling, and network infrastructure.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in capacity planning and infrastructure upgrade projects.
• Respond to and manage critical incidents and emergency situations.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for management and clients.
