Job summary

JLL in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Operating Engineer to monitor and maintain critical building systems, including electrical and HVAC, ensuring safe, compliant operation.

The role requires an SMA license or equivalent, 3+ years in plant operations or data centers, and strong knowledge of BAS/CMMS, with a focus on energy efficiency and preventive maintenance. On-site work with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma and related trade schooling preferred.
• 3+ years plant/center operations experience, data center helpful.
• SMA Operating Engineers license or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor building systems safely and in compliance with regulations.
• Perform preventive maintenance and rounds on mechanical/electrical equipment.
• Coordinate with Critical Operations Team for change management and incident reporting.
• Maintain infrastructure documentation and ensure up-to-date drawings and one-lines.
• Identify safety hazards and implement remediation with vendor support when needed.
• Support energy management efforts to reduce consumption and improve sustainability.
• Run predictive maintenance, repairs, and service requests as directed.
• Work off-hours for emergency or critical maintenance as required.
