Job summary

Insomnia Cookies is seeking an Assistant Bakery Operations Manager to join our bakery leadership team in East Lansing. You will partner with the Bakery Operations Manager to coach and develop hourly teammates, manage staffing, inventory, and quality, and own day-to-day operations during peak hours.

This role is a hands-on path to running a bakery of your own. We value guest experiences, speed, cleanliness, and team accountability, offering growth into higher bakery leadership and a culture built

Qualifications

• 1+ year of leadership experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, or another customer-focused environment.
• Experience coaching, motivating, and developing hourly team members.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Hands-on leadership style and willingness to jump into any bakery role when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day bakery operations with BOM to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
• Independently lead the bakery when BOM is away and keep the team focused.
• Coach, motivate, and develop Shift Leaders and Cookie Crew members with real-time feedback.
• Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training to build a strong team.
• Help create schedules and manage labor to meet bakery needs.
• Assist with ordering, inventory management, product rotation, and shrink control.
• Maintain high standards for product quality, food safety, cleanliness, and speed of service.
• Complete required operational and administrative tasks accurately and on time.
• Identify opportunities to improve bakery performance with BOM and Area leadership.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and team development.
