Job summary

Insomnia Cookies in Detroit, MI seeks an Assistant Bakery Operations Manager to partner with the Bakery Operations Manager and lead a high-energy team. You'll focus on staff development, guest experiences, and keeping the bakery running at its best, from staffing and inventory to quality and cleanliness.

You'll step up to lead when the BOM is away, learn the business, and build the skills to eventually run your own Insomnia bakery. This role offers growth and hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of leadership experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality.
• Experience coaching and developing hourly team members.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Hands-on leadership style and willingness to fill bakery roles when needed.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• 18+ years of age and ability to obtain food safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day bakery operations with the BOM to deliver guest experiences.
• Lead the bakery independently when BOM is away.
• Coach and develop Shift Leaders and Crew through real-time feedback.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and training to build a fully staffed team.
• Help create schedules and manage labor to meet bakery needs.
• Assist with ordering, inventory, rotation, and shrink control.
• Maintain high standards for quality, safety, cleanliness, and speed.
• Identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions with leadership.
• Prepare for peak hours and ensure consistent execution.
