Job summary

NACBA in Frederick, MD is seeking an Assistant Accounting Manager to join our finance team. This full-time on-site role offers a competitive salary of $80,000 to $95,000 plus an annual bonus and potential partial remote work after one year.

You will maintain accurate ledgers, manage accounts payable, post journal entries, and support monthly and annual closes. The position requires strong Excel skills, GAAP knowledge, and experience with ERP systems such as Sage 300 CRE or Foundation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of debits/credits, accounts payable, and journal entry preparation.
• Experience with Sage 300 CRE or Foundation is a plus, ERP experience preferred.
• Exposure to 1–2 financial audits as a contributing team member.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis).
• Experience using AI to automate manual accounting tasks.

Responsibilities

Assistant Accounting Manager

Salary: $80,000 - $95,000+ per year plus annual bonus

This is a full-time on-site position based in our Frederick, MD office with the opportunity for partial remote after 1 year of employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records, including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations and payroll reports

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field is preferred with 3-5 years of accounting experience or High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 12 years experience
• A solid understanding of debits/credits, accounts payable, and journal entry preparation
• Experience with Sage 300 CRE or Foundation web-based accounting software is a plus, experience with a similar ERP financial system at a minimum
• Exposure to 1-2 financial audits as a contributing team member
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis)
• Experience using AI to automate manual accounting task
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Windows PC

Preferred Experience

• Direct experience with Sage 300
• Direct experience with Foundation web-based accounting software
• Prior involvement in process improvement initiatives using AI
• Experience with construction accounting in glass and glazing market
• Experience with sales tax, physical inventory, and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
