Job summary

CUSTOM GLASS SERVICES INC. is seeking an Assistant Accounting Manager for our Frederick, MD office. This on-site role offers a path to partial remote work after one year and includes a salary in the $80k–$95k range plus annual bonus.

You will join a small, collaborative finance team responsible for general ledger, payroll reporting, AP processing, and close activities, with opportunities to implement AI-driven automation and optimize Excel-based analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred with 3–5 years accounting experience (or 12+ years with HS diploma).
• Strong understanding of debits/credits, AP, and journal entries.
• Experience with ERP systems and AI-based process automation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records, including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations and payroll reports.
• Process and manage accounts payable transactions accurately and on time.
• Prepare and post journal entries in compliance with accounting principles and internal policies.
• Support monthly and yearly close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Assist with audit requests and documentation as needed.
• Assist with filing and maintaining business licenses and vendor accounts.
• Build, maintain, and optimize complex Excel spreadsheets for reconciliations, reporting, and analysis.
• Coordinate with CFO and 3rd party CPA firm for creation of year-end reviewed financial reports.
• Create AI processes to automate manual tasks.

This is a full-time on-site position based in our Frederick, MD office with the opportunity for partial remote after 1 year of employment.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field is preferred with 3-5 years of accounting experience or High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 12 years experience
• A solid understanding of debits/credits, accounts payable, and journal entry preparation
• Experience with Sage 300 CRE or Foundation web-based accounting software is a plus, experience with a similar ERP financial system at a minimum
• Exposure to 1-2 financial audits as a contributing team member
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis)
• Experience using AI to automate manual accounting task
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Windows PC

Preferred Experience

• Direct experience with Sage 300
• Direct experience with Foundation web-based accounting software
• Prior involvement in process improvement initiatives using AI
• Experience with construction accounting in glass and glazing market
• Experience with sales tax, physical inventory, and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
