Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and store operations. This role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager position during a limited period.

The candidate will support customer service leadership, cash controls, and daily store processes while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. This position is on-site at a Dollar General store, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to lead a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stock management per SOP.
• Manage inventory processes including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Support in meeting in-stock targets through proper ordering practices.
• Provide customer service leadership and operational oversight.
• Model company procedures and policies from handbook and SOPs.
• Participate in opening/closing store activities and cash handling oversight.
• Ensure safe deposit of funds and maintain store security practices.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment for customers and staff.
• Operate store in manager's absence and review operating statements for trends.
