Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising employees, inventory and store operations during a limited period to develop external candidates.

The role includes recruiting, merchandising, inventory management, achieving in-stock targets, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining cash controls. Strong reading, math and communication skills are required, with bilingual Spanish a plus at some locations.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret diagrams, safety rules and procedures.
• Perform basic math calculations (add, subtract, percentages).
• Know cash handling, cashier accountability and deposits.
• Learn IBM cash register functions and reports.
• Understand inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Know cash, safety and access control policies.
• Know recruiting, interviewing and hiring processes including compliance.
• Exhibit effective written and oral communication.
• Demonstrate interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Solve problems with limited standardization.
• Some locations prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with merchandising and stocking per standards and pricing.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Follow ordering to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies in the handbook and SOP.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Assist in safeguarding company funds and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for sales, labor, profitability and shrink.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on deadlines.
