Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising employees, stocking, inventory, and store operations. This role develops externally for the Store Manager track, for a limited period.

The position emphasizes staffing, merchandising, cash handling, and compliance with policies. Travel between nearby stores and daily store responsibilities are expected as part of hands‑on leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing to reflect established practices.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, scans, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies from the handbook and SOPs.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds.
• Maintain cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
