Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, and daily store operations. This role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

You will help with recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, and cash handling while ensuring a safe and well-organized store environment. This position may involve travel to other locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at certain store locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating staging, stocking and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management (damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork, controls).
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in the handbook and SOPs.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds in the designated bank.
• Assist in maintaining financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash control.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends, expenses, and inventory turn.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on deadlines.
