Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, stocking and all store needs. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager path and is temporary in nature.

The position requires strong cash handling, merchandising, and customer service leadership, with potential travel to multiple stores as needed. High school diploma or equivalent preferred and retail experience beneficial.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing according to practices and manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in store manager’s absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
