Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking and receiving, and ensuring store procedures are followed. The role supports the development of an external candidate for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

You will help recruit, merchandise, maintain safety, and ensure financial integrity through cash controls. This role involves store opening/closing duties and reporting on performance trends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise according to store manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and conduct inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and act as role model for policies and procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
